Teaching and Pedagogy
As an educator, my goal is to have current research inform my teaching so that my students are receiving the most current information and skills needed to master the course objectives and apply that knowledge to address real world problems. Students are presented with the seminal works as a firm foundation on which to build their knowledge. I have had the pleasure to teach both undergraduate and graduate students on the topics of psychology, gerontology and aging studies, housing and consumer behavior, and use of healthcare services and supports, as well as research design and analytics. Evaluations of my teaching indicate strengths in creating a comfortable, discussion oriented classroom climate in which students feel respected and able to broach difficult topics. I have developed or taught more than 20 courses.
