The GELS project, conducted by Dr. Dawn Carr and myself, began in 2006 and is an ongoing research study. The early stages of this longitudinal study have been focused on obtaining yearly surveys of student training to become gerontologists. Additional data about faculty, program, and changes to the discipline are collected and compiled. This study has the potential to identify key changes to the field of gerontology, and identify ways to improve the quality of gerontological education through the preparation of future gerontologists. We see this as a collaborative project among all who are interested in the future of gerontology as a discipline.
